Welcome to RugbyWA Women's Rugby Union

The Western Australian Women’s Rugby Union (RugbyWA Women's) was incorporated in 1995, and since then have had a number of clubs compete in the competition.  In 2010 we will have five clubs in the competition:  Cottesloe, Kalamunda, Perth Bayswater, University and Wanneroo.

The 2010 season will be kicking off on Saturday 8th May 2010 following a number of weeks of trials that also incorporated the holding of the annual RugbyWA women's seven's tournament which this year saw Perth Bayswater defeating Cottesloe in the final

RugbyWA Women’s Rugby Union has enjoyed a successful representative history. We are looking to attend the national championships to be held in Canberra over the June long weekend. We presently have three WA players in the Women's Australian (Wallaroo’s) Representative Training Program: Debby Hodgkinson and Rebecca Clough of Cottesloe and Stacey Kilmister from Perth Bayswater. This year Sue Roberts has been appointed as our State Coach and she is very keen to ensure we have a competitive side representing WA at the nationals. State team training has only just commenced and will continue on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.  

In August 2009  Rebecca Clough, Stacey Kilmister and Debby Hodgkinson travelled to Samoa to compete in the Oceania World Cup Qualifing match.  The Paper to Paper Wallaroos won the match with ease 86 - 0.

Debby Hodgkinson had an outstanding season in 2009, gaining top honours not only nationaly but internationally.  Debby was awarded the 2009 ARU Women's Player of the Year and the ARU Sevens Player of the Year in October at the John Eales Medal Awards.  She also received the IRB Personality of the Year Award in 2009.  Such a huge success for Debby personally, but also a great result for Women's Rugby in WA.
