Emirates Western Force team mates Scott Staniforth and Mark Bartholomeusz will go head to head on Saturday in the KWIK Premier Grade match of the round between Cottesloe v Associates.
Staniforth will wear the yellow Associates jersey while Bartholomeusz will be flying the Cottesloe flag in a match that will go a long way to determining the 2010 minor premiership.
Cottesloe are just a point clear at the top of the table from Nedlands who’ll be hoping third placed Soaks can secure their second win against the Seagulls. A victory by Associates will also put them in reach of a coveted top two finish with a relatively easy run home to finals.
Bartholomeusz, who played his first match for Cott last weekend, acknowledged the importance of getting the win on Saturday after a second half fight back was required to secure a draw against Kalamunda last week.
“It’s an important game for us to get full points and we’ll need to perform well. Last week we just didn’t play well and we were lucky to get away with the draw,” said Bartholomeusz.
The experienced back is delighted to be playing the in the local competition during the Super rugby break and is looking forward to locking horns against Staniforth who he’s known since they played together in the Australian 20’s.
“It will definitely be tough playing against Spanner, he’s a quality performer. I’ve been playing alongside him and against him for quite a few years now so I know his abilities which might come in handy.
“We’re both only really finding our fitness after a few games. There are a lot of good players around us and it will be a great clash between two top class sides.”
The match kicks off at 3.30pm at Cottesloe’s home ground at Harvey Field.
