The construction of rugby's new world-class facility is well underway with the concrete slab down and an elevator shaft already visible behind the fencing along Underwood Avenue in Mount Claremont.
The $10million facility is the latest State infrastructure project to be delivered by the Department of Sport and Recreation in the Mount Claremont Sports Precinct.
Nestled between the brand new state of the art WA Basketball Centre and WA Athletics Stadium, the Rugby Facility will be the new home of RugbyWA and the Emirates Western Force with administration offices, a gymnasium and changeroom facilities and merchandise shop.
To further enhance the integration of the entire rugby family, from professional to grass roots, the building will have education facilities and be available for a range of stakeholders to utilise.
WA's disabled athletes will also be able to access the gym with the design taking into account all of their needs.
As well as the modern facilities the building has been built with the environment in mind using sustainable design initiatives including photovoltaic cells for power generation, solar passive design and low energy lighting.
Completion of the new building is scheduled for April 2011.
